Event Description

Join us every second Thursday to connect with art through cocktails, conversations, and creativity. This month, discover the riveting tales behind the renowned robberies, perplexing forgeries, and thrilling heists that have punctuated American art history.

The Museum’s Main Entrance will be closed, please enter the Museum at our entrance located on Lancaster Avenue.

5–6 p.m.

Listen to a happy-hour live performance by Aautumn, where she will meld the classics with a modern sound.

5–8 p.m.

Play a mystery or clue-based board game and enjoy drinks for purchase in the Atrium, including a white peach sangria specialty cocktail. Carter members get one complimentary drink! Lite bites are available for purchase at the Carter’s Food Cart.

Become a copycat and create a forgery from our collection! Leave behind riddles and clues to see if others can discover the artwork you forged. Led by Carter Community Artist Anna Pham. Supplies limited to the first 200 people.

6–7:30 p.m.

Learn about famous American art crimes from Laura Evans, a Distinguished Teaching Professor and the Director of the Art Museum Education Certificate at the University of North Texas. Evans has a special interest in art crime: thefts, vandalism, and forgeries. Evans studied art crime at the Association of Research into Crimes Against Art (Italy) and has a postgraduate degree in antiquities trafficking and art crime from the University of Glasgow (Scotland). She lectures about art crime around the world from Algeria to New Zealand. Evans is currently writing The Atlas of Art Crime, which will be published in fall 2024. Following her lecture, she will participate in a Q&A. Seating for the talk will be first come, first served.
